Refugee Assistance Morris Partners (RAMP) is a volunteer organization which seeks to assist vetted and documented refugee families and individuals threatened by war or violence to transition to productive lives of dignity, safety, and hope in Morris County, New Jersey.
A primarily volunteer-run organization, RAMP helps people affected by humanitarian crises rebuild their lives.
In the Spring of 2016, a coalition of Morris County faith-based organizations came together to address the refugee crisis. This community of Christians, Jews, and Muslims formed Refugee Assistance Morris Partners, RAMP. RAMP partners with International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Church World Service (CWS) to resettle people safely in the Morris County area.
Today, RAMP is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees who strive to give our families and individuals hope for a better future by building a "Bridge to a New Life".
In 2023, RAMP has brought on new trustees “who have energized us and who give us a bright sense of the future,” according to RAMP President, Carol Graham. New committees are looking at ways to better support the teams that help families while tackling tough issues for families soon after they arrive, such as: finding affordable housing and securing employment.
By the end of 2024, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) expects over 130 million people to be forcibly displaced or stateless. In the past decade, the global refugee crisis has more than doubled in scope.
Over 40% of today's refugees come from Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine.
Since its founding, RAMP has welcomed and supported 11 families from Syria, Afghanistan, and El Salvador. Of those 21 adults and 21 children, thirteen have become U.S. citizens and two are serving in the U.S. military.
Resettlement is difficult. Our resettlement process is based on co-sponsorship of refugee families with Church World Service (CWS) and International Rescue Committee (IRC) RAMP provides a broad range of hands-on services to best support individuals rebuilding their lives. These range from working with landlords to identify affordable housing; providing ESL tutors for language; driving to critical appointments such as medical, school, or DMV; and assisting in obtaining employment.
The goal for these families is to be employed, financially independent, proficient in English, and self-sufficient in 12-15 months.

As a community co-sponsor to both CWS and IRC, RAMP supports the welcome and integration of refugee families in a local community through volunteer services.
Founded in 1946, Church World Service (CWS) seeks to build a world where there is enough for all and there is a world where everyone has food, voice and a safe place to call home. In our early days, the CWS family mobilized more than 11 million pounds of food, clothing and medical supplies for war-torn Europe and Asia. In the United States, we began to welcome refugees who were looking to start new lives in safety, resettling more than 100,000 refugees in our first 10 years.
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people affected by humanitarian crises—including the climate crisis—to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC operates in over 50 crisis-affected countries as well as communities throughout Europe and the Americas. We deliver lasting impact by providing health care, helping children learn, and empowering individuals and communities to become self-reliant, always seeking to address the inequalities facing women and girls.
